What We Owe To Each Other

In his book What We Owe Each Other, American philosopher T.M. Scanlon presents his contractualist view that morality of an action is rooted in its connection to what is owed to others.

I only fancy myself a novice in the field of Philosophy, so I will leave the deep analysis to the experts.

But I have been drawn to contemplating the question of what do we owe each other? In a society fixated on the individual in communities that have put up barriers, physical and digital, to interacting with others what is it we owe each other?

To be a part of a better future, I believe we owe much to each other. Not just those in our immediate families or close friend circles but to those across the globe. While our individual actions may seem small and inconsequential our collective actions create something that alters the world.

So I resolve to think critically about what it is we owe each other and how I can get others to do so too.
